There is probably no one in America that would disagree with the fact that Billy Graham was America, if not the world’s greatest evangelist. And isn’t it shocking to find out that even he, the great evangelist didn’t believe in an eternal firey hell! Protestants of course have railed on Billy Graham for years since in 1979 he called the Pope, “The moral leader of the world”. Say what? Continue Reading »

For so long I struggled with my denominational teaching that somehow MY WILL was more powerful in the end than GOD’S WILL! And yet I was also taught that God was omnipotent. How could I have struggled wo long with what is so obvious? When is the last time that you read and meditated on I Timothy 2:4? Do it NOW! Continue Reading »

Can you trust the Bible? Can you trust the RED at least? Can you trust Jesus? If you call yourself a Christian and are a part of that community I would hope that you could answer YES to all three. But isn’t it strange that so many people who say YES to all three, have a “belief system” that says the contrary? Strange indeed. Continue Reading »

Let me quote Romans 12:21 from the New Living Translation for you, “Don’t let evil conquer you, but (you) conquer evil by doing good. How do WE, God’s creation conquer evil? Think about it for a moment……………………. WE conquer evil with GOOD! It’s another way of saying resist not evil (Matt. 5:39)- that we don’t like to hear, or practice. So, here is the question. Why would God ask of US that which He would not ask or demand of Himself? Continue Reading »

I don’t get it and I don’t think people understand it when they say that man’s FREE WILL is why there has to be a HELL! Either God came up with a plan that’s not working, or He came up with a plan that made man’s will and desires stronger than His. Or, maybe we just don’t comprehend the plan. Can you imagine a God who would create creatures more powerful than Him? Many can, and many do! Continue Reading »

What’s James 5:11 mean anyway? When’s the last time you pondered that verse? We’ve seen the END of the Lord? How so? How many millions of books have been written and sold regarding the end times- eschatology? Why all of the speculation, when we see the answer right here? And why all the eternal hell fire and damnation prophecies when “it is finished“! Continue Reading »

It’s no contest when it comes to who wins in the battle of the WILLS! Sure, God has given us FREE will and while we’re in this life, we too often will choose to do dumb stuff; however, when we leave this third dimension for the fourth, we will wise up I am sure. God didn’t create us to lose and neither did He miscalculate how the universe should be run. To think that God, Creator of the universe, came up with a lame plan that would send the vast majority of the world to an eternal hell doesn’t make sense. Continue Reading »

Fewer and fewer ministers of the Gospel preach hell fire and damnation these days. I wonder if it’s because they don’t believe God could condemn a person to hell for all eternity or because they want to build a crowd? I think it’s a fair question. Once upon a time, particularly between the 5th century and the 15th century, the “hell sermon” was the weapon of choice for social control by most pastors. Let me just use the rest of this days commentary to give you a sampling, and then we’ll get back to the God who is love. Continue Reading »

Fundamental denominations, almost without exception, have a fear, paranoia, and hatred of the word universalism. Might we say Catholicism (not just Roman Catholicism)? It’s just intrinsic to strict, literal, and fundamental groupings that those who try to be good (live under the law) should not have an advantage over those who live under grace or a combination of both. How does one say God is love and just, and then pretend that an eternal hell somehow fits that description? Tell me how an eternal tormenting hell is loving, or just? Continue Reading »

If the only way to avoid a literal, eternal hell was to hear and orally repeat some particular prayer, formula, or doctrine: if it were that simple, why didn’t Jesus tell us that? Why are people afraid of their children hearing that there is no hell (but that there are dire consequences to our sin both here and in the after life). Why do parents want their children “afraid” of God and what He might do if they aren’t good little boys and girls? Are parents afraid they’ll lose control, did they ever have control, and is “control” really the key to living the Kingdom life? I’ve got more questions though. Continue Reading »
